Contaminated Studios

and

Lateral Gaming (formerly Neural Gaming)

Contaminated Studios was started more than a year ago, and hasn’t gone anywhere in that time period except getting a better homepage every so often. I want this to be successful, but I just haven’t given it the time and attention it deserves. What both of these projects need is a goal, something to constantly strive for. That is what I am trying to figure out in this post. It is a learning experience for both of us.

So lets get started:

This site (Contaminated Studios) doesn’t need to be anything more than a place to release content. However the question I have is what that content should be. One of the inspirations for making Contaminated Studios in the first place was Garry’s Mod. I think we should stick to those roots, and provide addons and content for Garry’s Mod. The problem with this goal is I am not proficient with modding, so for us to be successful either I need to get amazing at Lua, or we recruit developers and unite them under the Contaminated Studios name. We would be like a publishing company or a record label, releasing game modifications and providing promotional media for them. Should we be only concentrated on Gmod addons? I don’t think so, but it is a good place to start. What I need to work on for this site is getting a modding community set up.  A blog style page like this works great for releasing content and providing news, but I feel we also need a forum to provide better feedback. So lets sum up what I need to do:

• Assemble developer staff.
• Work on site, mainly adding a forum.

And the goal: Provide interesting and compelling game modifications.

Now onto my latest project Lateral Gaming:

Lateral Gaming started off as Neural Gaming a few months ago. It was just a gaming forum for awhile, until I started hosting a Garry’s Mod server off my laptop. The server was taken down by me just because I don’t like hosting a server from a personal computer, especially one I use for other things. So, Lateral Gaming needs to be some kind of gaming group. I want to stick with Garry’s Mod, and that is where I am going to start. Servers is where we need to start. I was recently introduced to the Gmod role-playing scene, and I am having a lot of fun with it. I think I will rent a dedicated server and run some kind of RP gamemode. The goal of running the server would be to get clients to possibly go to the website, join the forums, and eventually get involved in the community. It would be great if we could attract mappers, coders, and the like to our community where they could contribute to the Contaminated Studios project. The devs would either create Lateral Gaming exclusive content or public modifications under the Contaminated Studios name. Integration between CS and LG are critical.

What I need to do:

• Start a Garry’s Mod server.
• Recruit players to the community.

Goal of Lateral Gaming: Provide unique and entertaining online player interactions.
